WEEK 13

Monday:

On Monday we began with a new topic about genetics, it is basically making an educative guess about the way your son might look according to the way the person you are going to marry with looks. There’s this chart that help us to know the possibilities.

Wednesday:

On Wednesday we had a very nice talk with the teacher, she told us that this was like the talk we should receive at the very beginning of the year unfortunately we had this little chat until know. However it is always better late than never. I really felt supported by the teacher.

Friday:

On Friday the teacher explained us the classes that are left from the semester and our calendar for the month. Afterwards we continued with some exercises of Monday’s topic.

WEEK 12

On Monday we did an activity which consisted on reading some information about the cell cycle, mitosis and meiosis and then taking some notes with mind maps, diagrams and summaries.

Wednesday we received our final partial grade, and we continued with genomics and some of cell cycle. My partial grade was 83, a bit lower than what I expected, actually it was lower than last partial. However my own personal purpose is to get above 90 in the third partial.

On Friday we did a research activity which consisted on making temas of four people and through research, answer a table about diseases related to the genes and chromosomes. At the end we had to share it with the teacher through google drive.

WEEK 11

This week we had our second partial exam. So on Monday we had our review for the exam. The teacher showed us how to search for reliable information on the digital library. We also made a summary about the topics.

On Wednesday we had the partial exam, it was a very tense day, since every single student that came out of the exam told me that it was the hardest exam ever. Honestly I got really nervous and I blocked myself, I got a horrible grade, honestly I don’t know exactly what happened.

Friday we had our lab practice, this time, it wasn’t my turn to bring the material. The practice is going to be finished on Monday from 9-11.

WEEK 10

Monday’s topic was quite dope we saw everything about DNA and Genomics. This whole week was basically about DNA.

We also saw the RNA and some ilness with the chromosomes, this week I also took advantage to do the Virtual Reality cell tour.

Friday’s topic was mitosis and the teacher taught us how to convert from RNA to DNA, honestly this was one of the few topics that I really understood, it is very easy.

WEEK 9

Monday

Since this week we had to present our projects, this was q very short week. We only had Monday’s class, in which we saw the way cells get their energy. It’s basically a three-step process. The glycolisis, the Kreb’s Cycle and finally the Electron Transportation Chain in which we finally get the 38 ATP.

Friday

We skipped to Friday’s class because we didn’t have our exam on Wednesday. On Friday we were the first team to present, as everyone might probably guess we were afraid. However we didn’t let our nerves control us and we trusted on what we knew, at the end of the presentation we got 100.

WEEK 8

Monday,

On Monday we saw the different ways that a cell can travel, during class we did an activity which consisted on explaining one way a cell could travel, we also assigned teams for the project that is going to be delivered next friday.

Wednesday,

Wednesday was the last class of the week, because on Thursday I went to a basketball tournament with my team, this class was to review, we did some questions through a cahoot and I talked to the teacher about Friday’s lab practice.

WEEK 7

Monday

This week was a hard one, but at the end of everything I understood almost every single topic. On Monday we continued with the topics of biomolecules and we saw a bit of the types of cells and some of its characteristics.

Wedesday

On Wednesday we saw the Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes and its main similarities and differences. We saw their structure and functions, at the end we did an activity similar to a kahoot quiz just to verify o¡if we had learn the topic.

Friday

On Friday we saw the different parts of the cell and their functions, although it is a difficult topic, for me it was easy to identify each characteristic of the cell. At the end of the class we did a small test to verify if we had learn and I did very well

WEEK 6

Wednesday

Week six was very short due to the suspension of classes. We began our week on Tuesday and as a consequence we had our first class on Wednesday. It was a normal class, we began a new topic, in my opinion one of the hardest topics, biomolecules. On Wednesday we saw the Carbohydrates and the Lipids or fats. For me it was a difficult topic.

Friday

On Friday, we continued with Proteins and Nucleic Acids, during this class I felt a bit more sure about the topic, that until we saw the Nucleic Acids, however at the end of the class, we saw a presentation that made everything clear.

WEEK 5

This week was very productive since we had important evaluations. On Monday we reviewed the topics that were coming on Wednesday’s First Partial Exam. We saw some videos that summarized what we saw from the first day until now, and we answered some quick questions. The class was basically a review that helped us, to finish our homework that was our ticket for presenting the exam, and to do great on our exam.

Wednesday was very quick, as soon as we entered the classroom we had to stay quiet, sit down and wait for instructions. Before the exam began, the teacher asked us to give her the homework. The exam consisted on 15 questions. It was very quick and easy, I got an 80 plus the 5% of the homework.

On Friday we had our lab practice, unfortunately my team forgot to bring the materials so I had to manage to get them. I had to share them with two teams. During our lab practice we used a Bunsen burner which I already knew how to use. We boiled some water and we used some sample tubes one with water and the other with a variety of chemicals. At the end we added the chemicals to the food that I brought, like the potato and apples. Here are some pictures of Friday’s lab practice.

Week 4

Monday:

Monday was a pretty short, first we had a bit of class and the the teacher assigned us teams for making a presentation as a whole group, my team chose the Endosymbiotic Theory and we designed three slides including APA refrendes about it. We had to include what was it about, who made it and some pictures that served as an explanation for Wednesday´s presentation.

Wednesday:

On Wednesday we had to present our little presentation to the whole class, unfortunately we were one of the last teams to present, but we learned a lot of different views and theories about the creation of life. When it was our turn, almost at the end of the class, we talked about the ants as an example of one organisms living in the guts of a bigger organism and helping him in the process of digestion.

Friday:

On Friday we made an activity that consisted on reading an article about the Characteristics of Living Things, and answering some questions. The activity was in teams of three, so we divided the work and we finished it quickly. We had to upload it on blackboard separately. That was this week´s activities.
