Week 3

Last week was quite quick and with some homework, but this one was very different because we had our first Biology Inter-partial Exam. So on Monday we reviewed the topics that were coming on the exam, like the Scientific Method, how to interoperate charts, the variables (dependent and independent) and their characteristics. We took some notes and that was Monday´s class.

On wednesday we had our first Biology Inter-partial Exam, Biology class was the second last class of the day, so I had time to study during my free time, I didn’t know exactly what to study so I watched the videos that the teacher sent us and I studied with the help of the flashcards. When it was time to answer my exam, I got really nervous because there were only ten questions so I had to do it very carefully. At the end of the exam, I didn’t know my results yet but I knew that I did it well.

Friday was the day when the teacher uploaded the grades. I got a nine, is quite a good grade but I know I can improve and do it better. After seeing the exam results the teacher told us that we are going to have a trip to the Evolution Museum in Tehuacán, unfortunately I think that I´m not going to be able to go. Then the teacher told us about the two projects for next week. The first one is for Wednesday but if we hand it in on Friday of this week we might get an extra point, and the second one is for Friday of the next week.

WEEK 2

Last week´s blog was about an introduction to the course. This week we started working, on Monday, we saw some slides about the scientific method which is the way of proving a point. For example Copernicus proved that objects fall at the same speed by throwing two objects, one heavier than the other, at the same high and both touched the floor at the same time, and we also started the blog.

Wednesday was a bit different because we had to make some research work, which consisted on selecting a topic and look for an article that relates to it. Then we wrote an essay answering a few questions about the article. We wrote it about how Copernicus discovered the moons of Jupiter with a telescope made by himself. We also saw what we needed to bring for Friday´s class.

On Friday, the class was divided in two groups for the lab, my group went on the second half of the hour. We learned the basic things we need to know about the microscope and we also saw a mosquito and some newspaper through it.

WEEK 1

Our first week on our biology class was quite short, however we learned a lot of useful things. The first day was dedicated to learn and understand the way of evaluating this course, as well as the way this semester is going to be divided.

The introduction was very useful, during the presentation, the teacher showed us an app in which we can communicate our doubts to the teacher. Honestly I really appreciate it, it shows disponibility.

Our second was took place at the library where we learned how it works, some tricks and the people than can help us. I find this very useful because learning how to use such an important tool is a key to success in this semester.

Friday was quite short it consisted on making teams of two and doing a presentation about any topic, but using the required research characteristics. My mate decided to make it about Jupiter, so we started working and by the end of the class we were almost done.
